Data Regulation & Competition

Data is becoming the new fuel for the basis of competition for a range of businesses. The level of data that Big Tech (e.g., Facebook, Alexa, Google) and other players are able to capture on people is extraordinary. Numerous regulations (e.g., GDPR, Healthcare interoperability in the US) are setting significant privacy requirements and data sharing guidelines and companies are determining how much of a proactive stance to take and how to mitigate security risks.

In a world of data liquidity, will Big Tech and other tech players have a lock on data collection, ingestion, curation and application? What will it take for other companies to win? Will they need to partner with the big data players or become tech companies themselves?
